Your score is one thing a lender sees.
It is not the only thing.
Maybe it is the power bill that cannot wait, the vet who needs paying, the heat that quit in January or the storm that found the roof.
Whatever it is, asking is free, the range is $100 to $5,000, and your credit type does not stop you from sending a request.
Some weeks are all stairs. The next one can be small.
Ask for what the week needs, and leave it there if the offer does not fit.
What lenders may look at
Every lender weighs these its own way, and no single number decides it for all of them.
Plain answers about bad credit
Are there loans for people with bad credit?
Yes, some lenders work with lower scores, but nobody can promise you one.
Each lender sets its own rules and looks at more than a score, such as income and existing debts. RiseKredit is not a lender. We pass one free request to lenders in our network, and approval is up to them. How much can you borrow
What credit score do you need for a personal loan?
There is no single number, because each lender and each loan sets its own floor.
You do not have just one score either, since scores change with the model and the day. A lower score can mean a higher rate, so read the total cost of any offer before you say yes. What else lenders check
Does a personal loan affect your credit score?
Checking your options does not. A lender's hard inquiry can.
A soft inquiry does not change your score. If you go ahead with a lender, it may run a hard inquiry, and the CFPB says those can affect your score. After that, paying on time or paying late also counts. Soft and hard inquiries
Do I need a credit score for a personal loan?
Not always. Some lenders look at income and bank history when there is little on your credit report, but each lender decides for itself. If you have no credit history yet, you can still send a request. Read any offer closely before you agree to it.
Are loans for people with bad credit legit?
Many are, and some are scams built to look real. Be wary of anyone who promises approval before checking anything, or who asks you to pay before you get the money. Get the lender's name, the APR and the total to repay in writing, and check the lender with your state regulator.
Who gives loans for people with bad credit?
Online lenders, credit unions, community banks and storefront lenders all may, depending on your state and your finances. RiseKredit does not lend. We pass your request to lenders in our network, so a lender, not us, decides whether to make an offer and sets its terms.
How much does it cost to send a request?
Nothing. Sending a request is free and you do not owe us anything. If a lender makes an offer, that lender sets the rate and fees and shows them to you. Read them, and walk away if the total does not suit you.
What does a small loan cost?
Ballpark math in dollars, using the state fee caps the CFPB reports for payday loans. Your lender sets the real figure, and other loan types work differently.
| You borrow | Fee at 10 per 100 | Fee at 30 per 100 |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | 10 | 30 |
| 300 | 30 | 90 |
| 500 | 50 | 150 |
Many state laws cap payday loan fees at 10 to 30 dollars for every $100 borrowed. At 15 dollars per $100, a two week loan works out to an APR of almost 400 percent. CFPB, read November 7, 2026
Paying only the fee to push back a due date does not cut what you owe. If a bill can wait or a payment plan exists, try that first. Loan or utility payment plan
